I bought an asus product and used it for less than a month and during the first two weeks of use the charging port stopped working so I was told to send it in, to be repaired but before I could send it back coffee spilled on it and I ended up filing an accidental damage protection claim. I was told that the laptop would be replaced with a refurbished unit. Which I felt was not fair since I haven't even had the computer that long. I asked them for my money back or a new computer and was told that wasn't an option. If I knew that their adp plan would only give you a refurbished unit in the event something happened with yours I would have never purchased from them. Also their customer service is horrible so I basically paid $500 and am getting someone's else piece of refurbished trash. I will never buy another asus product and will definitely spread the word about this unethical business. I am also including a copy of my email correspondence to Asus and their reply. Asus is the worst company I have ever dealt with and if you value your money do not spend it with them they are thieves, and scam artists.

Dear Ms. Sanders,

I don't know what to tell you. ADP only covers repairs but since your unit is unrepairable due to the spill our next offer is to offer you an identical refurbished unit. We do not have new units & your ADP does not cover it either way. So, the only options here is to utilize your ADP for the refurbished replacement unit, I can try to see if we can repair your original computer, or we can return your unit unrepaired & you can see if the place you purchased it from can help you out. There are no other options besides those 3. Let me know how you would like to proceed.

I do not want a refurbished notebook, I have used this notebook for a month and should not have to get a refurbished unit. I would like to receive replacement cost so that I can purchase another unit. Thank you, also is there a phone number that I can contact you directly?

Dear Ms. Sanders,

I'm contacting you in regards to your unit that is in repair. The repair department has confirmed your unit to be a total loss. Too many parts were affected by the spill. We would like to offer you an identical refurbished notebook. If you accept we will provide this for free by utilizing your ADP (Accidental Damage Protection). We will thoroughly test the unit before ship out. Please allow at least 5 business days before ship out. Let me know if you accept.

Thank you,

Wow.. I simply cannot believe people.

He was lucky to buy from a company that covers accidental damage and he is crying and whining about getting a recertified product, to the point of saying he will spread his 'injustice' far and wide. I hope he does, the only thing he would be achieving is the improvement of people's views of Asus. Good job Asus! I just bought a ROG and I will be jumping in joy if I make a mistake and break it only to recieve a refurbished model.

Makes me glad I bought an Asus. FYI refurbished models aren't used pieces of junk, they are laptops that had a disfunctional part i.e a broken charging port or something that affected the entire series of models on a widespread scale and need fixing. One might actually like a refurb laptop, cause the company has given it a second look and fixed an issue that could of affected your laptop. I simply cannot fathom how entitled some people are.

If they replaced items with new items every time they definitely wouldn't be offering accidental damage, it would only cover lemons/software and maybe hardware. So be happy!

This guy is a frigging ***. He breaks his computer, uses the protection plan which was provided to him for FREE by the manufacturer (who else offers this?) and expects a new laptop?

He should be kissing the ground they walk on that he is getting a functional laptop at all. Even the aftermarket damage protection plans you can BUY only offer to replace it with a refurbished model and that is AFTER YOU PAY THEM A DEDUCTIBLE. Get your head out of your ***. You broke your laptop.

It was your fault.

Take the replacement they are offering and get on with your life. ***

I was suspicious this was a cooked up ploy by ASUS. I figure they'd know people would look for a bad review of their ADP plan and view this and like ASUS.

If this is for real, that guy is an ungrateful ***. I agree. ASUS did their job great by offering a refurbished laptop.

I'm still a little suspicious if this is real or not. If this is how ASUS really acts then (I like their products anyway; they don't skimp on what's important like screen brightness and stuff that really matters) I will prefer them to any other company even more.
